Supporting Yodel to deliver innovation through design.

Yodel is one of the UKs largest couriers and delivers millions of parcels each week to every postcode across the UK. That’s why they have more than 50 hubs nationwide to help get your parcel delivered on time, regardless of destination.

Yodel operates in a variety of sectors, including fashion, leisure, health and beauty, home and garden, electrical, gifts, publishing, and entertainment. They also offer specialist handling for delicate items such as wine and flowers.

Since 2018, Yodel have been investing heavily in the technology that powers their business, and in 2019 we were approached by Yodel to help in the delivery of that strategy.

After a number of highly successful proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate our capability and a fascinating period of research and development, Yozu was engaged by Yodel to work directly alongside their existing teams to completely redevelop and modernise their mobile platform.

As the partnership grew to cover multiple applications that support various business areas, it became clear that it was time to design a comprehensive Design System that connected everything and maintained consistency across all platforms. The complete design system included the following:

At the beginning of our partnership with Yodel, we provided UX & UI design and Creative Direction services to deliver all the necessary features to support the development teams. We worked closely with Yodel and — through site visits, workshops, and user interviews — worked to understand their business objectives, user needs, and design preferences.

As the project grew from a single application to multiple mobile and web apps, our team took the lead in creating a digital brand, design system, component library, and guidelines that would bring Yodel’s brand identity to life across digital platforms whilst maintaining consistancy and streamlining development.

The team at Yozu have been fantastic to work with, they are dedicated and have meshed really well with the rest of the team.
